I thought I’d do a quick update on my progress of working through my long list of “Games to be played”.
I might have gotten a little further along in the list by now, but some friends and I have been spending a lot of time playing COD4 online. I finally managed to get my profile up to level 55. All I really have to do now is work on getting the headshot challenges so I can unlock the golden version of each gun. The other game that has been sucking up all my time is Mass Effect 2. I’m already working on my third playthrough. I figure I’ve probably got about seventy-five hours into it so far. I absolutely loved the first Mass Effect, and the sequel has honestly met every expectation I had for it. As for the rest of the games….
Assassin’s Creed was pretty fun. Repetitive, but fun. By the time you get to the last few targets, you have the routine down pat. Hit all the viewpoints, pick a pocket, save a fellow assassin’s butt, eavesdrop on the guys standing in the middle of the plaza talking about info that you just happen to need, and finally report back to the bureau. Now while it did get a little routine, it was still a fun game. I did like the way the story unfolded toward the end, and I am most definitely putting Assassin’s Creed 2 on my wishlist.
Bioshock is a game I have been trying to get through for over a year now. I bought it on Steam back in December of ’08 when they were having some holiday sale event. I started playing it about a month later when I got my new computer built, but I just couldn’t get into it at all. It just seemed very slow, and very boring. I’d play for about a half-hour, and then I’d have to stop. I just couldn’t take it anymore. With Bioshock 2 recently released, and getting pretty good reviews, I figured I had better sit down, and power through the first game to see if it got any better. I am happy to report that it did indeed get better. Once I got going, I finished the game in two sittings. The story finally started to pull me in little by little, and next thing I know I’m at the end of the game. I really can’t wait to get my hands on Bioshock 2.
I briefly touched on Crysis: Warhead, and Prince of Persia in my last post, so I won’t go into those again. I think I will try to tackle Torchlight next. I’ve gotten a fair amount of time into it already, and it has been pretty fun so far. The amount of items dropped by the enemies in that game is outrageous. I spend most of my time packing up my pet sidekick and sending him to town to sell the excess. Still, I really want to know how it all unfolds. I’ve been more attracted to the story element of games, rather than the actual gameplay mechanics or what have you. If the game has a pretty good story, I can overlook all the other crap.
Well, I’ll see you all later. I’ve got some gaming to do.
Okay so I “found” a copy of Fraps the other day, and decided to test it out a little. I was playing around with the video settings, and I think I finally got it set the way I like. I made a couple of test videos using Left 4 Dead, and Counter-Strike: Source. The CS:S vid has a music track to it, so if you don’t like Meshuggah I’d recommend muting the sound. Just FYI. Oh, and just click on the video to go to Youtube and watch it in full size.
